He’s seeking re-election as County Judge in March 3 primary
During his tenure as County Judge, J.C. Carter has helped bring jobs and development to Poinsett County.
Carter is seeking re-election in the March 3 Republican primary. His primary opponent is former county judge Randy Mills.
Carter has lived in Poinsett County his entire life and was a justice of the peace for more than two decades before being elected county judge in 2022.
Under Carter’s watch, Basden Steel recently purchased 70 acres in Marked Tree to build a new facility, which will be its first purpose-built Arkansas operation. The Texas-based structural steel fabrication company bought land near Interstate 555’s Exit 13, and it says the project will bring “high-value job opportunities” to the region.
Also, Microsoft and Clearloop have partnered on a new solar project in Poinsett County as part of a 100MW multi-year multi-state initiative aimed at bringing renewable energy to underinvested communities.
The county judge serves as the county’s chief executive and presiding officer of the quorum court.
