Bolzenius wants to provide responsible governance as Prairie Township trustee
A candidate for the Prairie Township Board of Trustees in Franklin County says she is fighting for responsible governance, smarter spending and real support for the environment and her neighbors.
Michelle M. Bolzenius promises to bring transparency, accountability and community-centered leadership to local government. She also says she is focused on addressing housing shortages, cutting unnecessary regulations and ensuring property rights are respected all while supporting programs that assist residents in need. She also wants to secure funding for new parks to strengthen recreation opportunities and community connection.
The election is November 4, but early voting began October 7 and continues through November 2. For more information, click here.
Two incumbents are seeking re-election. Four challengers, including Bolzenius, are seeking to unseat one or both of the incumbents whose four-year terms end December 31.
“Addressing the township’s housing shortage, starting in Galloway Village, will be a top priority,” Bolzenius recently told The West Side Messenger. “I support leveraging opportunities through legislation such as Senate Bill 184 to improve infrastructure and revitalize neighborhoods.
“I also strongly support property rights, programs that assist residents in need, environmental sustainability and securing funding for the planned park at Dellinger and Hubbard Roads, a vital space for recreation and community connection.”
Bolzenius says she plans a community first approach to serving as a trustee.
“Prairie Township has too often failed to put residents first, wasting taxpayer dollars on replacing vehicles that are still in perfect working order and prioritizing discussions of additional property maintenance codes instead of addressing critical infrastructure or housing needs,” she told The Messenger. “I am committed to a community-first approach that values transparency, fiscal responsibility and decisions backed by data.”
Bolzenius has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Dayton. With that background, she says she offers a balanced, people-focused approach to decision-making.
She says the major issues she wants to address as trustee are working to obtain clearer fiscal plans and objectives to combat high utility and housing costs. She also wants to work on eliminating overregulation and excessive housing codes
Her campaign emphasizes fiscal responsibility and reform. Bolzenius has criticized township leaders for wasting taxpayer dollars while failing to tackle rising water rates and housing costs. She advocates for clearer financial objectives, transparent reporting, and performance-based accountability for local utilities to ensure residents pay only for measurable improvements in service. Her vision of fair, efficient governance rooted in sustainability and openness makes her a strong advocate for Prairie Township’s future.
