Effective date: 2026-08-28
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of newslinelocal.com and its content and features (collectively, the “Services”).
Newsline Local is the publication name used by the operator of the Services (“Newsline Local,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). References to “you” and “your” mean each person who accesses or uses the Services.
Please read these Terms carefully. By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. The Services
Newsline Local publishes journalism, commentary, data, photographs, graphics, audio, video, links, and other informational material. We may add, remove, modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any portion of the Services at any time. We do not guarantee that any particular article, feature, archive, or service will remain available.
Some features may be governed by additional terms, rules, disclosures, or eligibility requirements presented when you use them. Those additional terms are incorporated into these Terms. If they conflict with these Terms, the more specific terms govern that feature.
2. Intellectual property
The Services and their contents—including articles, headlines, photographs, illustrations, graphics, video, audio, databases, compilations, page designs, software, logos, trademarks, and other material (collectively, “Content”)—are owned by or licensed to Newsline Local and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
Subject to these Terms, Newsline Local grants you a limited, personal, revocable, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to access and use the Services and Content for your own noncommercial informational purposes. This license does not transfer ownership and may be revoked if you violate these Terms.
You may share a link to a publicly available page without reproducing its content. These Terms grant no right to republish, redistribute, syndicate, or otherwise reuse Content. Nothing in these Terms restricts fair use or another use independently permitted by applicable law.
Except for uses independently permitted by applicable law, you may not:
- reproduce, republish, distribute, publicly display, perform, sell, license, syndicate, translate, modify, or create derivative works from the Content;
- remove or alter a copyright, trademark, byline, credit, watermark, rights-management notice, or other attribution;
- frame, mirror, or reproduce the design or presentation of the Services;
- compile Content into a database, website, application, media-monitoring product, or other publication or service;
- use automated means to scrape, crawl, harvest, download, index, or extract Content without our express written authorization;
- use Content to develop, train, fine-tune, test, ground, supply, or improve an artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model, retrieval system, automated summarization product, or similar technology;
- use Content or the Services to generate competing products, substitute publications, systematic summaries, or commercial datasets; or
- use Newsline Local’s names, marks, logos, or branding in a way that suggests sponsorship, endorsement, affiliation, or permission.
All stories and other Content are owned by Newsline Local or published with authorization from the applicable rights holders. Wire-service and other licensed material remains the property of its respective rights holders. Our permission to publish it does not grant readers any reuse rights. Attribution alone does not authorize republication.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Services to:
- violate any law, regulation, court order, contract, intellectual-property right, privacy right, publicity right, or other right;
- threaten, harass, stalk, defame, exploit, or harm another person;

- collect personal information about others without a lawful basis;

We may investigate suspected violations and cooperate with lawful requests from courts, law-enforcement agencies, regulators, and other authorized authorities.
4. Correspondence and news tips
You may send questions, corrections, news tips, or business inquiries to newslinelocal@gmail.com. Sending correspondence does not guarantee a response or publication and does not automatically grant us a license to republish your original work. Any needed publication rights will be handled separately.
Ordinary email is not a secure tip channel. Do not assume that sending an email creates a confidentiality agreement. If confidentiality is essential, discuss appropriate arrangements before sending sensitive material. We make editorial decisions independently, subject to applicable law and any express agreement.
5. Copyright concerns
If you believe material on the Services infringes your copyright, email newslinelocal@gmail.com. Identify the material and its page URL, explain your rights and concern, and provide contact information so we can review and respond. This is a general copyright-complaint contact, not a representation that we have registered a designated agent or qualify for a statutory safe harbor.
6. Editorial and informational disclaimer
News and events change quickly. Although we strive to publish useful and accurate reporting, the Services may contain errors, omissions, delayed information, archived material, third-party content, or information that later becomes outdated. We do not promise that any Content is complete, current, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose.
Content is provided for general informational purposes and is not legal, financial, investment, tax, medical, safety, or other professional advice. You should consult an appropriately qualified professional before acting on information when professional advice is warranted. You are responsible for evaluating information and for decisions you make based on it.
Market, regulatory, legal, political, and business reporting may discuss companies, securities, industries, litigation, government actions, or possible future events. Nothing in the Services is an offer, solicitation, endorsement, or recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or take any other action concerning an investment, product, service, person, or organization.
7. Advertisements, sponsors, and third-party services
The Services may contain advertisements, sponsored material, affiliate links, embedded media, or links to third-party websites, products, and services. We may receive compensation from some of these relationships. Unless expressly stated, the presence of third-party material does not constitute Newsline Local’s endorsement.
Newsline Local does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, availability, security, privacy practices, terms, claims, products, services, or transactions. Your dealings with a third party are between you and that third party. Review the third party’s terms and policies before interacting with it.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have reviewed it. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms to the extent permitted by law.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to all or part of the Services if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, engaged in fraudulent or abusive conduct, threatened the integrity or security of the Services. We may also discontinue a feature or Service for legitimate operational or business reasons. Where appropriate, we may provide notice or an opportunity to appeal, but we are not obligated to do so unless required by law.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including provisions concerning intellectual property, licenses, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, disputes, and general terms—will survive.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES AND CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” NEWSLINE LOCAL AND ITS OWNERS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, CONTRIBUTORS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS DISCLAIM ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND QUIET ENJOYMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED; OR THAT THE SERVICES OR SERVERS ARE FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEWSLINE LOCAL AND ITS OWNERS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, CONTRIBUTORS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, OPPORTUNITY, GOODWILL, USE, OR DATA; OR COSTS OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY AND EVEN IF ADVISED THAT SUCH DAMAGES WERE POSSIBLE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF NEWSLINE LOCAL AND THE OTHER RELEASED PARTIES FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS.
These limitations do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
12. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Newsline Local and its owners, affiliates, licensors, contributors, service providers, officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or relating to your misuse of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person’s rights.
Newsline Local may assume control of the defense of a matter subject to indemnification, in which case you agree to cooperate. This section does not require you to indemnify a party for conduct for which indemnification is prohibited by law.
13. Governing law and venue
These Terms and disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent federal law or other mandatory law applies.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, any lawsuit or judicial proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services must be brought exclusively in a court of competent jurisdiction located in the Commonwealth of Virginia, whether a Virginia state court or a United States federal court located in Virginia. You and Newsline Local consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. The particular court must have subject-matter jurisdiction and proper venue under applicable law.
These Terms do not require arbitration. Nothing in this section overrides nonwaivable rights or mandatory jurisdiction or venue rules.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in law, the Services, technology, or our business practices. We will post revised Terms and update the effective date. If a change is material, we may provide additional notice where appropriate. Unless otherwise stated or required by law, revised Terms become effective when posted and apply prospectively. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. General terms
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any applicable additional terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Newsline Local concerning the Services and supersede prior or contemporaneous understandings about the same subject.
If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, transfer of assets, or operation of law.
Section headings are for convenience only. The word “including” means “including without limitation.” Electronic communications and records may satisfy legal writing and notice requirements to the extent permitted by law.
